My Story: Kelly Whalley

Co-founder of Find Your Wings

I want to use my knowledge and skills to help people. That’s when I’m happiest. That’s when you’ll see me most energised and creative.

Whether it’s the experience of 20 years in the corporate world, my expertise in digital and marketing, my passion for mentoring, my knowledge of business strategy and management or my skills in working with small businesses – I’ll tap into whichever area I need to when someone comes to me asking for support.

I have found real satisfaction in supporting people to thrive. Both young, ambitious professionals, in the lower/middle levels of management who need coaching and advice as well as people who are bravely setting out their own path in business who need practical guidance.

I also love working with charities, giving them much needed help on strategic planning and marketing.

I am highly empathetic and adaptable and find that my skills travel across many different sectors and business types.

I am curious by nature. I love to find new areas of interest or deepening my knowledge in areas I’m familiar with. Podcasts have been a revelation to me! Opening up new thinking on coaching, high performance, well-being, female power and energy and parenting… as well as my favourite comedy podcasts which always help to lift my mood!

One of the big lessons for me was not always to focus on the end goal of the ‘perfect’ outcome.

One of the big lessons for me was not always to focus on the end goal of the ‘perfect’ outcome. This constant driving onto the next thing, towards something which is actually ill-defined and constantly shifting is a route to madness and dissatisfaction.

It also means that you completely miss what is going on around you at that moment. This is encouraged by social media and the constant stream of someone doing something better or more. With a logical head on, this is clearly crazy to compare yourself with a stranger about whose life you know nothing and who has carefully cherry-picked a particular moment or achievement to share – but we do it none the less.

This is the reason that one of the core sentiments for our Find Your Wings business is not to focus on your perfect day or your perfect life and hold that as the vision you strive towards. I feel that this expectation piles so much pressure on you as an individual and may stop you from exploring exciting opportunities which don’t precisely line up to this vision.

One of the core sentiments for our Find Your Wings business is not to focus on your perfect day as this approach piles so much pressure on you. We want you to instead focus on what you’re good at and what you enjoy.

Finding your wings is the perfect analogy for what I feel we do.  Everyone should have a pair of ‘wings’ which is unique to them, built of your strengths, your passions, your opinions and your goals.  You don’t need to have them out all the time, but they are always there, ready to remind you of your true self.

I love to chat, so if you’d like to connect with me, just send me a message.
